Rogers Park

Woodlawn Chicago

One of the city’s most varied and heavily populated areas, Rogers Park is situated at the merging of two trails of Native Americans, which today are called Ridge Boulevard and Rogers Avenue. The neighborhood, part of the district of Far North Side, is on the northeastern corner of the city, bounded on the north by the beaches of Lake Michigan.

Among the neighborhood’s tourist spots and historic sites is the Emil Bach House. A work noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright, it was constructed in 1915 for Emil Bach. Other interesting places are Heartland Café, which has served vegetarian as well as meat) dishes from 1976, and live musical performances, and The New 400 Theater, an indie theater which has four screens and features a full bar.

The neighborhood includes smaller pocket neighborhoods such as Peterson Park. Loyola University the start of Lake Shore Drive sits on the southeastern edge of the neighborhood with views of the lake for anyone lucky to live on  one of the high rises along the east.

Home buyers can find a variety of housing styles including vintage walkups, new construction, and numerous classic Chicago bungalows throughout the area.

Residents get downtown Chicago easily via CTA’s Purple and Red lines or Lake Shore Drive.
