Lincoln Park traces its roots to a small US Army post constructed in 1824. The incorporation of Chicago as a city in 1837 did not include the neighborhood of Lincoln Park, which became part of the Lake View township.
First settled in the 1830s, Logan Square (named after General John A. Logan, soldier and political leader), was first inhabited by settlers with Scandinavian (mainly Danes or Norwegians) and English roots.
Incorporated as a village in 1869, Avondale finally became part of Chicago in 1889. Industry and manufacturing grew especially at the beginning of the 20th century due to the extensive transportation network, Chicago River on its eastern border, railway corridors and growth of streetcars
in 1925, the Chicago City Council would rename the area to Lincoln Square, to honor Abraham Lincoln, and a prominent statue would soon be erected in 1956 at the corner of Lawrence and Western

A vibrant neighborhood, North Center has a diverse mix of shops, restaurants, nightlife and attractions. Many residents move here to due to the schools in the area, which are considered some of the most desirable in the city.
Originally settled in the 1880s, by developers whom cut the trees in Lake View Township (which Edgewater was a part of at the time), clearing the land for potential future development. Lakeview was annexed by the City of Chicago in 1889 after a population explosion.
Originally called, Orchard Place the small area was used in 1942 for the manufacture of cargo planes by the Douglas Aircraft Company. After World War II however, the facilities were transformed into a commercial airport facility to be used by the City of Chicago

Inheriting its namesake from North Park University, which constructed the old main building in 1894. The area was first populated by Swedes, and as such is a reflection of Swedish culture. Even drinks like glogg can be purchased here.
The community was first settled in the 1830s. It started with John Kinzie Clark, as well as Elijah Wentworth, who had an inn and a tavern near what is today the Jefferson Park Metra Station. It was an independent township until incorporated into Chicago in 1889.
Norwood Park, named after Henry Ward Beecher’s novel Norwood, or Village Life in New England, was incorporated into Chicago in 1893, having earlier been part of nearby townships and become a village in 1874.
The area, now known as Edison Park, was originally named Canfield. It claims to be the first in the area to have electricity, and was renamed Edison Park in 1890.
Uptown is full of historic significance and tourist attractions and offers location, lakefront access and transportation mixed with affordability. The neighborhood took its name for the role it played as the northern end for the city’s railway lines
The opening of brickyards in the early 20th century to utilize the area’s clay deposits brought Scandinavian and German workers from other parts of Chicago into the West Ridge neighborhoods
Rogers Park is situated at the merging of two trails of Native Americans, which today are called Ridge Boulevard and Rogers Avenue. The neighborhood, part of the district of Far North Side, is on the northeastern corner of the city, bounded on the north by the beaches of Lake Michigan
