Inheriting its namesake from North Park University, which constructed the old main building in 1894. The area was first populated by Swedes, and reflects in the Swedish culture found throughout the area. Even drinks like glogg can be purchased here.
Nature and spaces are integral to the neighborhood as it is home to LaBagh Woods forest preserve as well as the Sauganash, a pocket neighborhood that caters to those who want to live in the city, but also appreciate spacious homes and yards and quiet streets.Some of the best holiday displays and lights can be found here are next door in Edgebrook.

Little Korea can also be found in the area, though not as large as its Chinatown or Argyle (Little Vietname) counterparts.
